Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until glossy.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough into portions and knead in small amounts of food coloring until evenly tinted.
  6. Roll each portion into 1-inch balls and coat generously in powdered sugar.
  7. Place the balls on the lined baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set but centers are slightly soft.
  2. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
