Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until glossy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Divide the dough into portions and knead in small amounts of food coloring until evenly tinted.
- Roll each portion into 1-inch balls and coat generously in powdered sugar.
- Place the balls on the lined baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set but centers are slightly soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
