Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in the milk and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and fold until just combined.
  7. If using whiskey, stir it in gently.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let it cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with cream or ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
