Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter High-quality butter with at least 82% fat is recommended.
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar Regular granulated sugar creates a shiny top.
  • 4 large Eggs Use room temperature eggs for better emulsification.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Enhances the flavor.
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour Avoid overmixing when incorporating.
  • 1 cup Cocoa powder Use high-quality unsweetened cocoa for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Balances sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder Gives lift to the brownies.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until fully liquid. Cool for a minute.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter with sugar. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well. Stir in vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder. Fold into the wet ingredients gently.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 20–25 minutes.
  2. Check for doneness with a toothpick - it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
Cooling and Cutting
  1. Remove from the oven and cool completely in the pan. Lift out to cut into squares.

Notes

For best results, line the pan with parchment paper for clean removal. Consider variations like adding nuts or caramel for enhanced flavor.
